House System
Our House System
At Woodhouse, our House System is an important part of The Woodhouse Way. It helps every pupil feel part of something bigger, creates a strong sense of belonging and gives children lots of opportunities to work together, contribute and celebrate success.
Belonging to a House
Every pupil is part of a House throughout their time at Woodhouse. Houses bring together pupils from different year groups and give children another community within school to belong to. They encourage teamwork, friendly competition and pride in being part of Woodhouse. Throughout the year, pupils can earn points for their House through their effort, attitude, achievements and contribution to school life.
Earning Housepoints
Housepoints are one of the ways we recognise pupils who are demonstrating our REWARD values:
Respect • Encouragement • Working Hard • Aspiration • Resilience • Determination
Pupils can earn housepoints for lots of different reasons, from producing fantastic work and showing determination, to being kind, helping others or making a positive contribution to our school community.
Every point earned by an individual pupil also contributes towards their House total.
More Than a Competition
Our House System isn't simply about which House earns the most points. Throughout the year, pupils have opportunities to represent their House through competitions, challenges, events and activities. These might involve sport, creativity, teamwork, fundraising, quizzes or other areas of school life. This means that every child has the chance to get involved and contribute in their own way.
Celebrating Success
House totals are celebrated throughout the year, helping pupils see how their individual efforts contribute towards something shared. Of course, there is plenty of friendly competition too! We love seeing pupils supporting their House, celebrating one another and working together towards a common goal. Most importantly, our House System helps pupils understand that everyone has something to contribute.
One Woodhouse Community
Although our Houses may compete, we are ultimately one Woodhouse community. Our House System encourages pupils to support each other, take pride in their school and put our ethos into practice:
Working hard, working together as a community, working for the future.
